Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491)

This is a provisional visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia. This visa allows the applicant and his/her family to work and study in the designated regional area for 5 years. The applicant becomes eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence visa after three years. The applicant is sponsored by a state or territory or an eligible relative.

Requirements-

  1. Invited to apply-The applicant is only eligible to apply if he/she has received the invitation on the basis of EOI submitted. The invitations are issued regularly through the Skill Select.
  2. Nominated or Sponsored- The applicant must be nominated bay an Australian state or territory government agency or indicate that the applicant will be sponsored by an eligible relative.
  3. Skill assessment- For the application the applicant must have a valid skill assessment (positive) at the time of invitation. The skill assessment must have been obtained in the 3 years before the date of invitation.
  4. Age- The applicant must be under 45 when he/she receives the invitation to apply for the visa.
  5. Points- The applicant must achieve the score specified in the letter of invitation based on the factors in the points tests.
  6. English Language- The applicant must have atleast competent English.
  7. Skills Requirement- The occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations.
